(sitting alone in a room with newspapers and magazines scattered about, the headlines praising the stock markets massive rise)
Somewhere along the line, all of the rich and mighty on Wall Street forgot who saved their asses and decided to have a cum swapping party that only they and their cronies could attend. I'm not interested at all in this number skewing circle jerk and I know most of the working and out of work populace feels the same. What angers me is that these idiots are making money by doing the same shit that got them into trouble in the first place. Not only are they repeating their mistakes on our dime, they are rewarding themselves by laying more good people off, initiating hiring freezes and giving themselves fat bonuses while not showing any sure signs of improvement. Is this what passes for economic recovery?
Apparently so. And you know what? They could care less about what happens to the rest of us. They will posture how real capitalism is survival of the fittest yet run to Uncle Sam to save their hides when the chips are down. They will call the people who default on their mortgages deadbeats while turning a blind eye to unfair terms they built into those mortgages. Terms that beat the borrower about the head and body with a lead pipe and terms that they made sure to keep hidden while having the borrower sign on the dotted line. They created a culture of overspending and debt and rewarded themselves for it. They saw that freezing wages or giving paltry raises was a great way to keep people borrowing and rewarded themselves for it. Good credit? They'll raise your interest rate. Why? Because they feel like it. They have to keep that Wall Street rally going so they will just bilk everyone and call it "growing the business year over year." And while they're at it, why not add arbitrary fees for things like breathing or taking a piss? Money isn't enough. They want your life, your blood, so they can turn that life force into capital for their private jets and lavish getaways. Hell, they'll try and add substance to those retreats in five star resorts by saying it's for some stupid team building exercise. You know, the circle of trust or the falling backward exercise. Circle of trust = circle jerk.
(turning on the TV and seeing more happy news about the Dow and the recession ending as unemployment soars)
There was a terribly out of touch old man that ran this country in the 80s that use to preach economic policies that bore his name. Everything was supposed to trickle down. The rich would help the less wealthy by creating jobs thus stimulating the mighty economic machine. It was pivotal that we free them of the encumbrance of taxes and regulations. Both sides in Washington over the years joined in on this policy and were were told to support it; it was growth, it was prosperity, it was good. WE, in the proletariat, were also told it was good and to believe!! The goodness will trickle downhill and save us all. Here's what I've learned; shit rolls down hill, not the green. And here we are, in a fine mess, being forced to took up at them as we wade in a pool of their excrement and the level is rising.
No, I don't much like these high rollers in their nice business attire from Brooks Brothers. When we think of deadbeats who exploit the system and do nothing productive, we tend to think of those on welfare and food stamps. We have tricked ourselves into thinking it is they who spend our precious tax dollars and they must be dispensed with. I say leave those people be, they aren't the real problem and a billion of them aren't as expensive as one fat cat on Wall Street. You wanna tell a real deadbeat off? Head down to Wall Street, look a Brooks Brothers wearing cocksucker in the eye and say,"Hey asshole, thanks for nothing!" And he/she will be bewildered for five seconds and go back to figuring out how they can layoff more people to inflate their false numbers on paper. Yes paper....paper dragons....paper bulls....paper bears. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you....Wall Street.
